Which one fits how you work?
Choose Unroll.Me if
Promotional mail is the problem. Unroll.Me finds every subscription sender in one pass and lets you deal with them as a list rather than one unsubscribe link at a time.
You want one email instead of forty. The Rollup collects everything you chose to keep but did not want interrupting you, and arrives once a day at a time you set.
You do not want a bill. The service costs nothing, and how that is funded is set out in its own pricing article and privacy notice rather than buried.
The mailbox itself needs to get quieter. ForwardThis will not help with that at all, because it never sees the mailbox.

- Is ForwardThis an Unroll.Me alternative?
- No. Blocking senders and bundling the rest into a daily digest is Unroll.Me's job, and ForwardThis does none of it. It is only worth reading on if the thing you actually resent was never the newsletters but the invoices, renewals and confirmations that each need entering somewhere.
- Will ForwardThis unsubscribe me from anything?
- No. It cannot see your inbox, so it cannot find your subscriptions, block a sender or build a digest. What it can do is act on a commercial email once you have decided it matters: draft the bill, log the price, set the reminder before the next renewal.
- How is Unroll.Me free?
- It says so plainly, which is worth crediting. Nielsen Consumer LLC, which owns Unroll.Me, runs a consumer panel: technology reads the commercial emails in members' mailboxes, extracts purchase information and turns it into market measurement products sold to businesses. Its privacy notice states that data about a panelist's commercial emails and some demographic characteristics may be sold or shared with customers including e-commerce businesses, investment companies, consumer brands, media companies and data brokers, and that directly identifying information is never sold or shared to target or sell to the person it came from. There is an opt-out in the app under Settings, Mailboxes, Manage My Data, Manage Data Permissions.
- Did Unroll.Me have a problem with the FTC?
- Yes, and the record is public. In 2019 the Federal Trade Commission announced a settlement over allegations that Unroll.Me had told some prospective users it would not touch their personal emails, and had then shared e-receipts from their inboxes with its parent company at the time, Slice Technologies, which used anonymous purchase information from them in market research products it sold. The order barred the company from misrepresenting how it collects, uses, stores or shares information, and required it to notify the affected consumers and to delete the e-receipts already collected from them unless they gave express consent to keep them. The settlement was finalised in December of the same year. Unroll.Me has since changed hands and now publishes its data practices up front, which is the version anyone signing up today would be agreeing to.
- Does ForwardThis sell or share email content?
- No. Email content is never sold, and it is not used for market research, advertising or measurement of any kind. The email and any attachments are deleted within a day of the work being done, and slightly later only if something went wrong and needs looking at. The companies that help run the service are named on the privacy page, and none of them get to use your email for anything of their own.
- Can I use both?
- Yes, and they are unusually easy to run together because they work on different mail at different moments. Unroll.Me decides which subscription senders keep reaching you, and ForwardThis acts on individual emails you deliberately send it. Neither can interfere with the other, since ForwardThis has no connection to the mailbox Unroll.Me is tidying.
