How it works
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "post this in #ops".
The message is drafted for the right channel. As per your instructions, ForwardThis can post to any public or private channel, message a person directly, or schedule the send for later.
You approve the message before it is sent: ForwardThis shows you the exact words first, because a message the team has seen cannot be unsent, then replies to confirm once it has posted.

FAQs
- How do I forward an email to Slack?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "post this in #support". ForwardThis shows you the message it is about to post, sends it once you say yes, and replies to confirm. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Slack connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- Can I send an email to a Slack channel?
- Yes. Name the channel in your instructions and that is where it goes. One address works for every channel you can post to, public or private.
- Doesn't Slack already have an email address for each channel?
- On paid plans, yes. Slack can give a channel its own email address, and anything sent there appears in that one channel as a raw forwarded email. ForwardThis uses one address for every channel, posts a clean message to the right channel, and shows you the words before they go out.
- Will anything be posted without me seeing it?
- No. Every message is shown to you for a quick OK before it is sent, because a message the team has seen cannot be unsent.
- Can it send a direct message instead of posting to a channel?
- Yes. Name the person in your instructions and ForwardThis sends the message to them directly. You approve it first, the same as a channel post.
- Can it post the message later?
- Yes. Say when in your instructions, like "post this in #general tomorrow at 9", and the message is scheduled. A scheduled message can still be cancelled any time before it sends.
- Does it work with Outlook and other email apps?
- Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and everything else. If it can forward an email, it works.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
