How it works
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "add this to my tasks for Thursday: chase the printer quote".
The task lands in Google Tasks as per your instructions, with the due date set. Ask it to keep the sender, the subject or a line of your own and that goes in the task's notes. ForwardThis can create a new list if required.
You receive a confirmation email showing the task, plus an undo button if something doesn't look right.

FAQs
- How do I send an email to Google Tasks?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "add this to my tasks for Thursday: chase the printer quote". ForwardThis adds the task with the due date set and replies to confirm. All you need is a free ForwardThis account with Google Tasks connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- Can Gmail turn an email into a Google Task by itself?
- Gmail can add an email to Tasks by hand, but it takes the subject as the title and leaves the date and list to you. ForwardThis does the whole job from one forwarded email: the title, the date, the list, and the notes if you ask for them, and it replies to confirm.
- Which list does the task go on?
- Whichever your instructions ask for. With no list mentioned it goes on your default list, and if you ask for a list that does not exist yet, ForwardThis can create it for you.
- Can it set a time as well as a date?
- No. Google Tasks itself only holds a date, not a time of day, so ForwardThis sets the day and the task shows up on it. If your tasks need times, ForwardThis works the same way with TickTick and Todoist, which do hold them.
- Can it add a subtask, or mark a task done?
- Yes. Your instructions can put the new task under an existing one as a subtask, mark an existing task done, move it to another list, or change its date or title.
- Does it work with Outlook and other email apps?
- Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and everything else. If it can forward an email, it works.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
