Why you need ForwardThis

ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.
Questions
- How do I send an email to Slack?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying which channel it belongs in, like "post this in #support". ForwardThis posts it to that channel and replies to confirm. The first time, you'll need a free account with Slack connected, which takes about 30 seconds.
- Can I forward an email straight to a Slack channel?
- Yes. Forward it to your ForwardThis address and name the channel - "post this in #support". It's posted with your note on top. One address works for every channel you can post to.
- Do I have to set anything up first?
- Connect Slack once - it takes about 30 seconds - and you're done. There's nothing else to set up: each email you forward says what should happen to it.
- What if it posts something to the wrong place?
- It won't post without you: messages are shown to you for a quick OK first, because a message the team has seen can't be unsent. For everything that can be safely reversed, the confirmation email includes an undo that works for 24 hours.
- Can I send an email to a private Slack channel?
- Yes. ForwardThis can post to any channel the Slack account you connected can post to, public or private.
- How is this different from Slack's own email integration?
- Slack gives each channel its own hidden email address, and whatever you send appears as a raw forwarded email. ForwardThis uses one address for everything, posts a clean message to whichever channel you name, and can do the follow-up work too - like creating the task to deal with it.
