Why you need ForwardThis
Email is messy, every message asking for something different. It means constantly leaving your inbox and juggling tabs. ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.
Questions
- How do I send an email to Trello?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying where the card belongs, like "add this to the Design board in Doing". ForwardThis creates the card, puts the email in the description, attaches anything that came with it, and replies to confirm with a link. The first time, you'll need a free account with Trello connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the entire Trello email integration.
- Can I choose which board and list the card goes on?
- Yes. Name them in your instruction and the card goes there. If you only have one board, it goes to that one without asking, and if what you wrote could mean two boards, ForwardThis asks you which, using your real board names.
- Do email attachments come across to the card?
- Yes. Attachments are read straight from the forwarded email and added to the card, so there's nothing to download and re-upload. It can attach a link instead if you give it one.
- Can it set a due date, labels or checklist items?
- Yes to all three. Due dates can be a day or a date, checklist items are added to the card (ForwardThis creates the checklist if the card hasn't got one), and labels work as long as they already exist on that board - it won't invent new ones.
- How is this different from Trello's own email-to-board address?
- Trello gives each list a hidden email address, and whatever you send lands on that one list with the subject as the card name. If everything goes to the same place, that's enough. When you want to forward email to Trello and say where it goes, when it's due and what's on the checklist, and have the same email create work in your other apps, that's this.
