FAQs
- How do I create a Google Calendar event from an email?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "put the viewing in my calendar for Thursday at 3pm". ForwardThis schedules the event and replies with the details. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Google Calendar connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- Where does it get the time and date from?
- From the email and your instructions. If the sender wrote 'Thursday at 3pm', that is enough; your instructions can confirm the time, change it, or add a reminder.
- Can Gmail add events to my calendar automatically?
- Sometimes. Gmail adds events for structured emails like flight and restaurant confirmations, but a plain 'shall we meet Thursday at 3?' from a colleague does nothing. ForwardThis handles those: forward the email and the event is created.
- Can it invite other people to the event?
- Yes. Guests are only invited when your instructions ask for it, and they receive a normal calendar invitation.
- Can it add a Google Meet link or a reminder?
- Yes. Ask for a Meet link and one is added to the event; ask for a reminder and it is set for the time you choose.
- What if I get the time wrong?
- Press undo. The event is removed from your calendar, and you can forward the email again with the right time.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
