- How do I add an email to Airtable?
- Forward it to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "add this enquiry to the Leads table in the CRM base". ForwardThis creates the record and replies with a link. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Airtable connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- How does it know which fields to fill in?
- It matches details from the email to your table's own column names. A name goes in Name, an email address in Email; say which columns you care about and it fills the ones it can.
- Can it read details from inside an attachment?
- No. ForwardThis reads the email itself, not the contents of attached files. If the details you need are in an attached PDF, put them in the message when you forward it.
- Can it attach the file to the record as well?
- Yes. Ask for the attachment to go into an attachment column and it is uploaded with the record. Airtable caps a single upload at 5 MB.
- What if the record already exists?
- Tell ForwardThis which column identifies it, and the matching record is updated instead of a duplicate being added.
- Could I use an Airtable form instead?
- You could, if the sender is willing to fill one in. A form asks the other person to do the typing; forwarding the email means nobody has to. Both end in the same table.
- Does it work with Outlook and other email apps?
- Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and everything else. If it can forward an email, it works.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
