- How do I send an email to Airtable?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying which table it belongs in and what to record, like "add this to the Suppliers table with the company, quote and hold date". ForwardThis pulls those details out of the email, creates the record with the fields filled in, and replies to confirm with a link. The first time, you'll need a free account with Airtable connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the entire Airtable email integration.
- Can it add a record to a specific base and table?
- Yes. Name the table in your instruction and ForwardThis finds it among the bases your Airtable account can reach. If two could match, it asks you which one rather than guessing, and it can list the tables in a base if you've forgotten what a thing is called.
- Do I have to map fields or build a trigger first?
- No, and that's most of the point. It reads the real column names from your table and puts each value under the one it belongs to. If you ask for something the table has no column for, it names that column back to you instead of quietly dropping the value or inventing a home for it.
- Can it attach the email's files to the record?
- Yes. Attachments come straight out of the forwarded email and onto the record, up to 5 MB per file, which is Airtable's own limit rather than ours. It can also link one record to another, so a quote can sit against the right supplier.
- How is this different from Airtable's own automations?
- Airtable's automations are built per table, in advance, for email that always arrives the same way, and if that describes your inbox they'll serve you well. Airtable email automation with ForwardThis works the other way round: nothing is built ahead of time, you write what this particular email needs, and the next one can go somewhere completely different.
