How it works

  1. Forward the receipt to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "attach this to my CityCabs charge from Tuesday and set the memo to Leeds client visit".

  2. ForwardThis finds the matching card transaction and shows you the match first - the merchant, the date and the amount - then attaches the receipt once you say yes. As per your instructions, ForwardThis can set the transaction's memo at the same time.

  3. You receive a confirmation email containing the transaction the receipt was attached to. Ramp has no way to detach a receipt, which is why ForwardThis asks before attaching rather than offering an undo.

FAQs

How do I email a receipt to Ramp?
Forward the receipt to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "attach this to my CityCabs charge from Tuesday". ForwardThis finds the matching card transaction, shows you the match, and attaches the receipt once you say yes. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Ramp connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
How does it find the right transaction?
From your instructions: the merchant, the day or the amount is enough. ForwardThis searches your card transactions, shows you the one it found, and attaches nothing until you confirm it is the right charge.
Can it move money or change my cards?
No, and it never will. ForwardThis attaches receipts and writes memos, and that is the whole of what it can do in Ramp: it cannot pay bills, issue or freeze cards, change spending limits, file reimbursements or touch a vendor's bank details.
Doesn't Ramp already accept emailed receipts?
It does. Ramp gives you a forwarding address for receipts and matches them to transactions automatically, and for a receipt that arrives minutes after the charge it works well. ForwardThis is for the one that needs directing: it finds the exact charge, shows you the match before anything is attached, and sets the memo in the same forward.
Can I undo it if the match was wrong?
Not the receipt: Ramp has no way to detach one once attached, which is exactly why ForwardThis shows you the match and waits for your yes first. A memo change can be undone for 24 hours from the confirmation email.
What if it cannot find a matching charge?
Nothing is attached. ForwardThis replies to say it could not find the transaction, and you can reply with more detail, like the exact amount or the date.
Does it work with Outlook and other email apps?
Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and everything else. If it can forward an email, it works.
What happens to my email afterwards?
It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.

Forward an email. Sh*t gets done.
