ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.

- How do I send an email to Ramp?
- Forward the receipt email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying which charge it belongs to, like "attach this to the Thornbury Hotel charge from Tuesday". ForwardThis finds the transaction, shows you the merchant, amount and date, attaches the receipt once you say yes, and replies to confirm. The first time, you'll need a free account with Ramp connected, which takes about 30 seconds.
- Can it attach a receipt from an email to the right transaction?
- Yes. The attachment is read straight out of the forwarded email, so there is nothing to download and re-upload, and the charge is found by merchant name and date rather than by an id you would have to look up. It can set the memo in the same instruction.
- Can it issue a card, freeze one or pay a bill?
- No, and it cannot. ForwardThis never moves money and never changes anyone's spending power in Ramp: no issuing or terminating cards, no freezing or unfreezing, no limits, no submitting or releasing bills, no reimbursements, and no changing a vendor's bank details. It reads, it writes memos, and it attaches receipts.
- What if the memo or receipt goes on the wrong charge?
- A memo undoes for 24 hours and goes back to exactly the text it replaced, refused if somebody has edited it again since. Ramp gives no way to remove a receipt once uploaded, so instead of offering an undo that could not work, ForwardThis shows you the transaction and waits for your OK first.
- What can it tell me about our spend?
- Ask in plain words and it comes back with card spend over a date range, filtered by merchant, cardholder or amount, one transaction in full with its cardholder, category, memo and whether a receipt is attached, or a summary totalled by merchant, person, category or department. It can also list cards, reimbursements and bills.
