FAQs
- How do I save an email to Confluence?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "save this in the Client Notes space, under the Fairfield page". ForwardThis creates the page and replies with a link. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Confluence connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- Which space does the page go in?
- Whichever your instructions name, and with only one space, ForwardThis uses it without asking. Name a parent page as well and the new page is filed underneath it instead of at the space root.
- Can it add to a page that already exists?
- Yes. Name the page and ForwardThis adds the email's text to it rather than creating a new one. If somebody else saves the page at the same moment, Confluence refuses and nothing is changed.
- Can it attach the email's files to the page?
- Yes. ForwardThis can attach the email's files to the page, and the confirmation lists what was attached.
- Can Confluence create pages from email on its own?
- No. Confluence has no built-in way to turn an email into a page; Marketplace apps exist to add one. ForwardThis needs nothing installed in Confluence: forward the email and the page is created and filed for you.
- Does it work with Outlook and other email apps?
- Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and everything else. If it can forward an email, it works.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
