How it works

  1. Connect Confluence

Create a free account and connect Confluence. It takes about 30 seconds, and you only do it once.

  2. Forward an email

Forward any email to your ForwardThis address along with your instructions. One email can ask for several things at once.

  3. Done.

ForwardThis replies when it's done, with a short summary and links to what it made - and an undo button if something doesn't look right.

Why you need ForwardThis

Email is messy, every message asking for something different. It means constantly leaving your inbox and juggling tabs. ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.

Questions

How do I send an email to Confluence?
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what you want, like "make a page in the Ops space called Northgate onboarding runbook". ForwardThis writes the page from the email, puts it where you said, and replies to confirm with a link. The first time, you'll need a free account with Confluence connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the entire Confluence email integration, and there's nothing else to set up.
Can it add to a page I already have instead of making a new one?
Yes. Name the page and it adds the text to the end, or to the top if you'd rather, or replaces the whole page if that's what you ask for. If somebody saves that page while ForwardThis is working, Confluence refuses the change and nothing at all is altered, and you get told what happened rather than finding someone's edit gone.
Can I choose the space, the parent page and the labels?
Yes. Say which space the page belongs in, name an existing page to file it under, and list the labels you want on it. Labels can be added or removed on a page later too, without touching what the page says.
Can it read a page back to me instead of writing one?
Yes. Ask for what a page says and it searches the wiki, finds it, and replies with the text in the email. A long page comes back trimmed, and the reply tells you it has been trimmed rather than pretending that's all of it. It can also comment on a page if you want to flag something instead of changing the words.
What if the page comes out wrong?
The confirmation email includes an undo that works for 24 hours, which puts the previous version back, and it refuses if the page has moved on since. Moving a page to the trash always checks with you first, and it goes to the space's trash where an admin can restore it. ForwardThis never changes who is allowed to read a page.
