How it works

  1. Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "log this on the Elmswell deal".

  2. The email lands as a note on the right record: a person found by their email address, or a company, deal, lead or project found by name. As per your instructions, ForwardThis can also add the person, move the deal to another stage, or set a follow-up task in the same forward.

  3. You receive a confirmation email containing what was logged and where, plus an undo button if something doesn't look right.

FAQs

How do I log an email in Copper?
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "log this on the Elmswell deal". ForwardThis adds it as a note on the deal and replies to confirm. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Copper connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
Doesn't Copper already live inside Gmail?
It does, and if the thread is open in front of you on your desktop with the sidebar showing, use it. ForwardThis covers the rest: your phone, a thread a colleague forwarded on, any other mail app. And one forward can do more than file the email - it can add the person, update the deal and set the task together.
Which records can the note land on?
A person, found by their email address, or a company, opportunity, lead or project, found by name. Projects too - Copper tracks the work after the deal, and the note can follow it there.
Will it create duplicate people or companies?
No. Copper keeps email addresses unique on people and web domains unique on companies, and ForwardThis looks first: if the person or company already exists, their record is used and updated rather than duplicated, so the CRM stays clean.
Can it update the deal at the same time?
Yes. In the same forward, ForwardThis can move the deal to one of your own stages, change its value or close date, or mark it Won, Lost or Abandoned.
Can it convert a lead into a deal?
Yes, but it always checks with you first. Copper removes the lead when it converts and cannot put it back, so ForwardThis shows you exactly what will be created - the person, the company, the opportunity - and waits for your yes.
Do I have to use Gmail for this to work?
No. Copper shops usually live in Google Workspace, and forwarding from Gmail is exactly the flow - but ForwardThis works with any email provider, so a forward from Outlook, Apple Mail or your phone's mail app does the same job.

Forward an email. Sh*t gets done.
