- How do I forward an email to Discord?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "post this in #announcements". ForwardThis shows you the message it is about to post, sends it once you say yes, and replies to confirm. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Discord connected. It takes about 30 seconds.
- Can I forward an email straight to a Discord channel?
- Yes. Name the channel in your instructions and that is where it goes. One address works for every channel, across every server you have added ForwardThis to, and you can name the server too if the same channel exists in two of them.
- Can it post in a thread or reply to a message?
- Yes. It can reply to a particular message, post into an existing thread, or start a new one and put the message there.
- Can it post the email's attachments?
- Yes. Say so in your instructions and the files are posted to the channel with the message, straight from the email. You approve the post first, the same as a message.
- Will anything be posted without me seeing it?
- No. Every message is shown to you for a quick OK first. Direct messages are out entirely: it posts in channels and threads only.
- How is this different from a Discord webhook?
- A webhook posts to one channel, and you set another up for every channel you want to reach. If all you want is every email from one sender landing in one channel forever, a webhook does that well and costs nothing to run. ForwardThis uses one address and reads your instructions, so this email goes to #announcements and the next one replies to a message in #support.
- Does it work with Outlook and other email apps?
- Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and everything else. If it can forward an email, it works.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
