The entry appears in that database with its own columns filled in from the email: the company, the contact, what they asked for, whatever the database holds.

Used Notion Mail to get Gmail into Notion?
The standalone Notion Mail inbox closes on 22 September 2026. Your Gmail is not affected, and databases that already hold synced email stay where they are, but no new messages arrive in them after that date. Notion's Gmail connector and its AI features are separate and are not closing.

- How do I send a Gmail message to Notion?
- Forward it to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "add this to my Leads database in Notion". The entry is created and you get a reply with a link to it. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Notion connected, which takes about 30 seconds.
- Does it work from the Gmail app on my phone?
- Yes. Forwarding is forwarding, so anywhere you can forward a message it works the same: the Gmail app, the web, or a desktop client set up with your Gmail account.
- Which database does it go in?
- Whichever your instructions name. The database has to be shared with ForwardThis in Notion first, and where two of your databases have similar names it asks which one rather than guessing.
- Can it fill in the database columns, not just the title?
- Yes. It reads the email and sets the columns that database actually has, so a status, an owner, a date or a tag arrive filled in. Anything it cannot match to a column goes in the page body instead of being dropped.
- Can it do something else at the same time?
- It can, and this is the part a straight email capture does not cover. One forward can file the lead in Notion, set a reminder for Friday and save the attachment to Drive, and you get a single confirmation for all of it.
- Is this a replacement for Notion Mail?
- No. ForwardThis is not an email client and does not replace one. You keep Gmail, and forward the messages that need something doing in Notion. If what you want is somewhere to read your email, this is not it.
- Does it work with Outlook as well?
- Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider, so the same instructions work from Outlook, Apple Mail or anything else that can forward a message.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It is deleted within 24 hours, once the undo window has closed. What stays is the record of what was done, not what your email said.
