ForwardThis for construction firms

Construction firms run on email. Drawing revisions, subcontractor invoices, delivery changes, certificates, snag lists: they all land in your inbox, and they all need actioning. ForwardThis actions them for you. Forward the email, add some simple instructions, and it does the work in the apps you already use.

The emails construction firms deal with every day

ForwardThis takes on the repetitive tasks you would normally delegate, or switch between apps to deal with yourself. Each one of these can be actioned from a single forwarded email.

  • A drawing revision from the architect

File this under Mill Lane/Drawings/Rev D.

The drawing is filed in the right project folder, and the confirmation gives you the link.

  • A question that needs an RFI

Raise an RFI on Mill Lane asking which door schedule applies, due Friday.

The RFI is raised on the project once you have approved it, worded the way you asked.

  • A subcontractor invoice

Put this in Xero as a bill, due the 28th.

The invoice waits in Xero as a draft bill, with the PDF attached.

  • A materials receipt

Put this in QuickBooks as a receipt under Materials.

The receipt lands in QuickBooks under Materials, ready for your bookkeeper.

  • A delivery time changing

Text the foreman that the steel now arrives Tuesday at 7am.

You approve the exact words first, and the text goes straight to site.

  • RAMS from a subcontractor

File this under Mill Lane/RAMS/Fenn Roofing.

The RAMS are filed against the project, so they are there when the site file is checked.

  • An expiring certificate

Put the expiry in my calendar for 12 May, with a reminder a month before.

The expiry sits in your calendar, and the reminder lands while there is still time to renew.

  • A client asking for a change

Add this to the Variations sheet with the date and the request.

The request becomes a dated row on the sheet, ready for when the final account is agreed.

  • A snag list after handover

Add each snag to the Orchard House board as its own task.

Every snag becomes its own task, so the list gets shorter instead of getting lost.

FAQs

How do construction firms use ForwardThis?
By forwarding the emails that carry work in them. A drawing revision gets filed in the project folder. A subcontractor invoice lands in Xero. A delivery change is texted to site once you approve the words. A snag list becomes tasks on the board. Each one can be actioned from a single forwarded email.
Does it work with the tools a construction firm already uses?
Yes. It works with Procore, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Xero, QuickBooks, Trello, Twilio and 145+ other apps. Each app takes one click to connect, and once connected it stays connected.
What can it do in Procore?
It can raise an RFI, add a task item, add a note to the daily log, and file a document into a project's files, all from a forwarded email. An RFI is shown to you for approval before it is raised, because the architect and the client will read it. Contracts, budgets and change orders stay in Procore itself.
Can my team use it too?
We're working hard on getting our team plan ready to launch. If you'd like to use ForwardThis for your team, please email us for more information.
What happens to commercially sensitive emails?
Your email is processed securely and used only to carry out your instructions. ForwardThis keeps it just long enough for you to press undo, then deletes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
Will a text to site ever send without me seeing it?
No. Every text is shown to you first, and it goes only once you approve the words. A text cannot be unsent, so nothing reaches the site without your OK.
