- How do I save an email to Box?
- Forward it to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "file this under Clients/Ellis Roofing/Policies". ForwardThis saves the attachment to the right folder and replies with a link. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Box connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- Doesn't Box have its own email upload address?
- It does. Box can give each folder its own upload address, which suits one fixed destination. It is set up folder by folder, though, and the address cannot follow instructions. ForwardThis is one address for everything: name the folder in the email, and the file lands there.
- What if I name a folder that does not exist?
- No problem. ForwardThis can create folders in your Box account for you, and the confirmation tells you when it has.
- What if the email has several attachments?
- Your instructions decide. Ask for all of them and every attachment is saved, or name just the ones you want. The confirmation lists each file with its link.
- What if a file with the same name is already there?
- Nothing is overwritten. The new file is saved with a (2) suffix instead, and the confirmation shows the name it was given.
- Does it work with Outlook and other email apps?
- Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and everything else. If it can forward an email, it works.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
