How it works
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "send our Contractor NDA to Dana Whitfield, dana.whitfield@outlook.com, for signature".
ForwardThis builds the envelope from the right Docusign template and shows you the send first: the template read back from your account, plus each recipient with their email. As per your instructions, ForwardThis can line up several signers in order, prepare a draft that sends to nobody, or send a reminder for an envelope already out.
You approve the send before anything goes out: Docusign emails the recipient the moment an envelope sends, and there is no unsend, so ForwardThis always waits for your yes, then replies to confirm once it is out for signature.

FAQs
- How do I send a document for signature from an email?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "send our Contractor NDA to Dana Whitfield, dana.whitfield@outlook.com, for signature". ForwardThis shows you the send first, and the envelope goes out once you say yes. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Docusign connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- Will anything be sent without me seeing it?
- No. Every send is shown to you first, with the template read back from your account and each recipient's name and email, because Docusign notifies the recipient the moment an envelope goes out and there is no unsend. Nothing leaves until you say yes.
- Can it send the attached document for signature?
- Yes. Forward the contract itself and Docusign sends that document. Name the words the signature should sit beside and it places the fields there; say nothing and the signer places them. Your saved templates still work by name, and they are the better route for a document you send often.
- Can it prepare the envelope without sending it?
- Yes. Ask for a draft and the envelope sits in your Docusign account at created status, emailed to nobody, until you open it and press Send yourself.
- Can I cancel an envelope after it has gone out?
- Yes, by asking: forward another email telling ForwardThis to void it. Docusign requires a reason and emails every recipient to say it was cancelled - that second email cannot be recalled, which is why voiding is a request of its own rather than an undo button.
- Can it tell me who has signed?
- Yes. Ask which envelopes are still waiting, or whether a particular one is done, and ForwardThis replies with the status straight from your account: sent, delivered, completed or declined. It can also send the signers a reminder.
- Can't I send for signature straight from Gmail or Outlook?
- You can. Docusign's add-ons for Gmail and Outlook build an envelope without leaving those apps, and if you live in one of them they are worth having. ForwardThis needs no add-in and works from any email app: one forward, one approval, done.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
