How it works
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "add this to my Errands list for Saturday morning".
The to-do appears in your list app as per your instructions. ForwardThis understands plain English dates, so 'Saturday morning' and 'next Friday' work exactly as written.
You receive a confirmation email containing a link to the new to-do, plus an undo button if something doesn't look right.

FAQs
- How do I get an email onto my to-do list?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "add this to my Errands list for Saturday morning". ForwardThis adds the to-do and replies with a link. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with your to-do app connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- Which to-do apps does it work with?
- Todoist, TickTick and Google Tasks. The forward is the same in each: the email becomes a to-do with its due date set, and the confirmation links to it.
- Can it set a due date?
- Yes. Say it in plain English: 'tomorrow', 'Saturday morning' and 'next Friday' all work, and the to-do is created with the date already on it.
- Which list does the to-do go into?
- Your instructions decide, and without them it goes to the app's default: Todoist's Inbox, or your default list in TickTick and Google Tasks.
- Can't these apps already accept emails?
- Some can. Todoist gives each project a forwarding address that turns an email into a task, and TickTick has one per account. The difference is one address for everything, with the list and the due date read from a plain sentence rather than the subject line, and a reply that links to the to-do it created.
- Does it work with Outlook and other email apps?
- Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and everything else. If it can forward an email, it works.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
