How it works
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "log this on James Okafor's contact record".
The email lands as a note on the right record. ForwardThis can find the contact by name or email address, or log against a lead, an opportunity, a case or an account instead.
You receive a confirmation email containing a link to the record, plus an undo button if something doesn't look right.

FAQs
- How do I log an email in Salesforce?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "log this on James Okafor's contact record". ForwardThis files it as a note on the right record and replies to confirm with a link. The first time, you will need a free ForwardThis account with Salesforce connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- Can it log the email against a lead, an opportunity or a case?
- Yes. Name the record in your instructions and the note lands there: a contact by their email address, or a lead, opportunity, case or account by name. It can go on as a Chatter post or an internal case comment instead if you say so.
- How does it find the right contact?
- The email address is the identity. The forwarded sender's address usually identifies the contact on its own, or you can name someone else in your instructions and ForwardThis looks them up. The confirmation tells you which record it used.
- What if it files the note on the wrong record?
- The confirmation email includes an undo that works for 24 hours, and deleted notes go to the Salesforce recycle bin, so nothing vanishes. You can also just reply and say where it should have gone.
- How is this different from Email-to-Case or Salesforce's own email logging?
- Email-to-Case turns every message sent to one address into a case, and activity capture quietly logs email against contacts. If all you want is a copy of every email on the record, use those. ForwardThis is for the emails you choose: you forward one, say where it belongs, and it lands there as a tidy note, with the follow-up task or opportunity created in the same email if you ask.
- Does it work with Outlook and other email apps?
- Yes. ForwardThis works with any email provider: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and everything else. If it can forward an email, it works.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly in case you press undo, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
