Why you need ForwardThis

ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.
Questions
- How do I send an email to LiveChat?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with your instructions, like "find my chats with this customer and tag the latest one billing". ForwardThis looks up the right conversation in your LiveChat archives, does it, and replies with the result. The first time, you'll need a free account with LiveChat connected, which takes about 30 seconds, and that's the entire LiveChat email integration.
- Can I forward an email into a LiveChat conversation?
- No, and that's deliberate. A LiveChat conversation is a live session: by the time an email has been forwarded, the visitor has usually left the site, and a finished chat can't be posted into at all. What a forwarded email can do is work with the record of those conversations - find the chats with a customer, read you the transcript, and tag the chat so your team picks it up.
- Can it find my old chats with a customer?
- Yes. Give it the visitor's name or email address, like "find my past chats with maya@brightco.uk", and it searches your LiveChat archives and replies with what it found - who, when, and how each chat is tagged. Ask for the transcript and it reads the conversation back to you, right in your inbox. Nothing in LiveChat gets edited.
- Can it tag a LiveChat chat from an email?
- Yes. Say "tag Dana's chat as follow-up" and ForwardThis puts the tag on that conversation, so it shows up in your reports and your team's follow-up views. It only uses tags that already exist in your LiveChat account: your tags are your team's vocabulary, so a forwarded email never invents a new one. Tagging can be reversed, and the confirmation email includes an undo that works for 24 hours and checks nobody has retagged the chat since.
- How is this different from LiveChat's own email features?
- LiveChat and its HelpDesk sibling turn a customer's inbound email into a ticket or a chat, which is the right tool for your support queue. ForwardThis works from the other direction: the email lands in your own inbox - a customer following up, a colleague asking what was promised - and one forward pulls up the chat history, reads you the transcript, and tags the conversation. It works with dozens of your other apps in the same breath, so the same email can also become a task or a note wherever the follow-up work lives.
