How it works
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "draft a tweet from this announcement, under 200 characters, and queue it for 8am tomorrow".
ForwardThis writes the post from what the email actually says, to the length asked for, and lines it up in your Typefully queue for the time given. Ask for a thread and it arrives already split into separate posts.
Before anything leaves, you see the words. ForwardThis shows you the full text and the slot it will go out in, and nothing is queued until you say yes, because the post publishes publicly under your own account.
It replies to confirm once the post is queued. There is no undo from here: ForwardThis has no way to pull a post back out of Typefully, which is why you read it first. To change or drop it, open Typefully.

- How do I turn an email into a tweet?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "draft a tweet from this announcement, under 200 characters". ForwardThis writes the post into Typefully and replies with a link to the draft. Ask for it to be queued as well and you see the exact words and the slot first, and it only goes out once you approve. All you need is a free ForwardThis account with Typefully connected - it takes about 30 seconds.
- Will a post ever go out without me reading it?
- No. Anything headed for the queue is shown to you in full, the whole post and the time it is due to publish, and it waits until you approve. Ask for a plain draft instead and nothing is scheduled at all: the text sits in Typefully until you open it.
- Can I pull a post back after it is queued?
- Not through ForwardThis. Once a post is in the Typefully queue there is no undo on this side, so the honest answer is to open Typefully and unschedule it there. That limit is the reason the words are put in front of you before they go.
- Can I get a thread instead of one tweet?
- Yes. Ask for a thread and the draft arrives already broken into posts: Typefully splits a draft wherever there are four blank lines in a row, and that is how ForwardThis writes it. Say how many posts you want and the email is cut down to fit them.
- Can it post to LinkedIn or Bluesky as well as X?
- Yes. X is the default, and your instructions can send the same draft to LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon or Substack instead. One forwarded email, whichever of those you post to from Typefully.
- Can it use the image attached to my email?
- No, and this is the real gap. Pictures reach Typefully by a route ForwardThis cannot take, so the post is written as text and the image has to be dropped in inside Typefully before it goes out. Everything else about the draft arrives ready.
- Can it tell me how a post did?
- Yes. Forward any email with something like "how did last week's posts do?" and the numbers come back in the reply: impressions, likes, replies, reposts, quotes, saves, link clicks and profile clicks per post, over the dates asked for. Ask about followers instead and you get the count and how it moved. These are Typefully's own figures, and it only holds them for X.
- What happens to my email afterwards?
- It gets deleted. ForwardThis holds your email briefly while the post is drafted, then removes it completely. Nothing is stored long term.
