Why you need ForwardThis
Email is messy, every message asking for something different. It means constantly leaving your inbox and juggling tabs. ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.
Questions
- How do I send an email to Front?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what you want, like "comment on the Calder Foods conversation and give it to Tom". It finds the conversation by subject or customer, leaves the comment for the team, sets the assignee, and replies to confirm. The first time, you'll need a free account with Front connected, which takes about 30 seconds, and that's the entire Front email integration.
- Does the customer see the comment?
- No. A comment is the internal kind your teammates see inside Front, and it never goes out to the person on the other end of the conversation. The only thing a customer receives is a reply, and a reply is a separate ask.
- Can it reply to a customer for me?
- Yes, and it checks with you first every time, because a reply from a shared inbox goes out under the company's name. The wording comes from the line you wrote, never from the content of the email you forwarded. If you'd rather look it over inside Front, ask for a draft instead and it sits on the conversation unsent.
- Can it create a new tag?
- No, and that's deliberate. It adds tags that already exist in Front by name, and a tag name it doesn't recognise is refused and reported back to you rather than quietly created. Shared inboxes fill up with near-duplicate tags fast enough without help.
- How is this different from Front's own rules, or Zapier?
- Front's rules are excellent when the same kind of message keeps arriving and you want the same thing done to it every time. Neither they nor Zapier help with the one-off: the email a colleague sends you that needs a comment, a tag and a name on it. ForwardThis is for those, using one address and the line you write, and it can carry on into your other apps in the same email.
