- How do I send an email to Gmail?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "draft a reply saying the 12th works" or "find everything from Meridian since June". ForwardThis works inside the Gmail account you connect: it searches your mail and answers by email, and it writes replies as drafts that stay unsent in Gmail until you send them. This is not a way of moving mail between mailboxes, and it never touches your Gmail settings. The first time, you'll need a free account with Gmail connected, which takes about 30 seconds, and that's the entire Gmail email integration.
- Can it send an email from my Gmail address?
- Yes, and it always asks first. The approval email quotes exactly what will be sent and to whom, and the recipient can only come from the line you wrote, never from anything inside the email you forwarded. Once you say yes it goes from your own address, like any other message you send.
- Does a draft ever send itself?
- No. A draft is written and left alone in your Gmail. There is no path from drafting to sending in ForwardThis, so the last person to touch it is always you, in Gmail, pressing send.
- Can it search my inbox for me?
- Yes. Ask in plain words or use Gmail's own search terms, like from: or has:attachment, and the sender, subject, date and a link to each message come back in the reply. What it finds is used to answer you and nothing else, so a message in your inbox can never quietly become an instruction.
- Is there an undo if it gets something wrong?
- No, and that's why sending always asks first. An email that has left your account cannot be taken back, so nothing goes until you say yes. A draft you didn't want is harmless: delete it in Gmail like any other draft.
