- How do I send an email to Google Forms?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying which form you want, like "send me the latest responses to the Year 6 Trip Consent form". ForwardThis reads the responses and replies with them as question and answer pairs, each with the date it was submitted. The first time, you'll need a free account with Google Forms connected, which takes about 30 seconds, and that's the entire Google Forms email integration.
- How do I get Google Forms responses by email?
- Name the form by its title and ask. If the thread already contains a link to the form, that works too, because the form's id is in its address. The answers come back in the reply, so you read them without opening the form or the spreadsheet behind it.
- Can it change a form or add a response?
- No. Reading a form's responses is the only thing it does here. It does not build forms, edit questions, submit answers or delete anything, so connecting Google Forms is a read-only arrangement and there is never anything to undo.
- What if it can't find the form by name?
- It tells you, rather than guessing at a form that happens to sound similar. Finding a form by its title depends on the permission you granted when you connected, and when that isn't available the reply says so and asks for the form's link instead. Pasting the link into your instruction always works.
- How is this different from Google Forms notifications or Zapier?
- Google Forms can email you as each response arrives, and the linked spreadsheet is the right place when you want to sort and total everything. Zapier suits sending each new response somewhere on a rule. ForwardThis is for the question asked after the fact, when a colleague forwards you a thread and the answer is sitting in a form you'd otherwise have to go and open.
