- How do I send an email to Vercel?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what you want to know, like "check the recent deployments on haltonwharf-site". ForwardThis looks it up and replies with the last few deployments, each with its state, branch, commit message and preview link. The first time, you'll need a free account with Vercel connected, which takes about 30 seconds, and that's the entire Vercel email integration.
- Can it tell me whether a deploy went through?
- Yes, that's what it's for. Name the project and it comes back with the recent deployments and where each one got to, including the error when one failed. It can also list the projects your Vercel account can see, which helps when you know the site by a different name than the project has.
- Can it trigger a deploy?
- No, on purpose. Vercel deploys are driven by pushes to your repository, and creating one through the API means re-uploading your sources, which is not something a line in a forwarded email should be able to do. So this side is left out entirely and the connection only ever reads.
- Is there anything to undo?
- No, and that's the honest answer rather than a caveat. Everything here reads: it lists projects and reads a project's deployments, and it writes nothing at all to Vercel. Nothing changes, so there is nothing to take back.
- How is this different from Vercel's own deployment emails or Zapier?
- Vercel's notifications are the better choice when you want to be told about every deploy as it happens. Zapier can pipe those events somewhere on a rule. ForwardThis is for the opposite moment: someone has asked you a question in an email, you don't know the answer, and you'd rather forward their message with one line than open the dashboard and work it out.
