Questions
- How do I send an email to Chargebee?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what you need, like "tell me what Northgate Property is on and what they still owe". The answer comes back as a reply, and if you also ask for a comment to be left on the customer, it writes one and confirms. The first time, you'll need a free account with Chargebee connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the entire Chargebee email integration.
- Can it charge a customer, refund one or cancel a subscription?
- No, and that is deliberate. ForwardThis never moves money. It cannot take a payment, issue a refund or a credit note, change a payment method, or create, change, pause or cancel a subscription. Cancelling in Chargebee ends someone's service and can trigger a refund of its own, and no forwarded email carries the authority for that. What it does instead is read what is there and write a comment for the billing team.
- What can it tell me about a customer's billing?
- It finds the customer by email or by name, reads their details along with the subscriptions they are on and what those cost, lists subscriptions by status such as active, in trial, paused or cancelled, and reads their invoices newest first with each total and the amount still due. Chargebee works out every figure, so the numbers are Chargebee's own.
- Can it add a billing customer or correct their details?
- Yes. Adding one creates the customer record and nothing else: no payment method, no subscription, no invoice. On an existing customer it can correct the name, email, phone and company. The billing controls that sit alongside those fields, like auto-collection, payment terms and taxability, are out of reach on purpose, because they change how and whether someone gets charged.
- What if it comments on the wrong customer?
- The confirmation email includes an undo that works for 24 hours, which removes the comment again. The same undo covers a customer it added or a detail it corrected. You can also just reply and tell it which customer you meant.
