- How do I send an email to FreshBooks?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with your instructions on top, like "log this as a travel expense" or "draft an invoice for Acme for 300". ForwardThis reads the email, checks with you, does the work in FreshBooks and replies to confirm. The first time, you'll need a free account with FreshBooks connected, which takes about 30 seconds.
- Can I email receipts to FreshBooks?
- Yes, and it's the job this integration does best. Forward the receipt to your ForwardThis address and say which category it belongs in. The amount, the vendor and the date come from the receipt itself, and the expense lands in your FreshBooks books after a quick OK from you.
- Can I create a FreshBooks invoice from an email?
- Yes. Forward the client's email and write something like "draft an invoice for 450 for the extra design work". ForwardThis finds the client in FreshBooks and creates the invoice as a draft, with your amount and description on it, ready for you to review and send.
- Will ForwardThis ever send an invoice to my client?
- No. Every invoice it creates is a draft, and it stays one. In FreshBooks, sending an invoice is what bills your client and puts it in your reports, so that step stays with you: you open the draft, check it, and send it yourself.
- What if it logs something wrong?
- It checks with you before anything goes into FreshBooks, so mistakes are usually caught before they happen. If something still isn't right, the confirmation email includes an undo that works for 24 hours: the draft invoice, expense or client it created is deleted, the same way you'd delete it in FreshBooks yourself.
- How is this different from FreshBooks' own receipt scanner?
- FreshBooks' mobile app is great for paper receipts you can photograph, and if that's most of your receipts you may not need anything else. ForwardThis is for the ones that arrive by email: forward them from your inbox and the expense is logged without retyping anything. The same address also drafts invoices, adds clients and answers questions like which invoices are still unpaid, in FreshBooks or any of your other apps.
