Why you need ForwardThis
Email is messy, every message asking for something different. It means constantly leaving your inbox and juggling tabs. ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.
Questions
- How do I send an email to Constant Contact?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with your instructions, like "add the sender to the Newsletter list". It reads the name and email address out of the message, adds the contact to the list you named, and replies to confirm. The first time, you'll need a free account with Constant Contact connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the entire Constant Contact email integration.
- Can I add a contact to Constant Contact from an email?
- Yes - that's the main job. Forward the email, name the list, and the contact is created on it, tagged however you asked. If they're already in your account they're added to the list rather than duplicated, and if they'd been deleted at some point they're restored. The details it uses come from the email itself, so nothing gets retyped.
- Can it unsubscribe someone who asked to stop receiving emails?
- Yes. Forward the request with "unsubscribe them" and ForwardThis sets that contact to unsubscribed in Constant Contact. Because this changes what somebody receives from you, it checks with you first, showing exactly whose subscription is about to change, and replies to confirm once you've said yes.
- Does this replace Constant Contact's own email automation?
- No, and it isn't trying to. Constant Contact's automation builder is the right tool for welcome series and scheduled sends, and if that's what you're after, build it there. ForwardThis handles the inbox end of Constant Contact email automation: the person who emails asking to join, the customer who asks to stop, the details that need updating. It gets them onto the right list, tagged correctly, and your automation takes over from there.
- Can it send a campaign from Constant Contact?
- No. ForwardThis never sends to a list - not a campaign, not a text, nothing. It manages who is on your lists and how they're tagged; the sending stays in your hands, in Constant Contact.
- Can it look a contact up by name?
- Constant Contact keeps contacts by email address, so ForwardThis needs the address too - "is laura@hartleyflowers.co.uk on the Newsletter list?" comes straight back with her lists, her tags and whether she's subscribed. If you only have a name, it will ask you for the address rather than guess.
- What if it changes the wrong contact?
- The confirmation email includes an undo that works for 24 hours: a contact it added is removed, an update goes back to the values that were there before, and tags go back the way they were. One exception, on purpose - if the person has changed their own subscription in the meantime, ForwardThis leaves them alone rather than overrule them.
