Questions
- How do I send an email to Sage Accounting?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what to make of it, like "draft an invoice to Northgate Property for 3 days site supervision at £480 a day". ForwardThis creates it in Sage as a draft, tells you which sales account it used, and replies to confirm. The first time, you'll need a free account with Sage Accounting connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the entire Sage Accounting email integration.
- Does it post the invoice to my accounts?
- No. Everything it creates stays a draft, which in Sage means it posts nothing to the ledger and moves no account balance. Approving the document in Sage is what issues it, and that stays your decision, made by you, in Sage. If a draft is wrong the undo in the confirmation email removes it for 24 hours, and there is nothing to correct afterwards because nothing had been posted.
- Can it email the invoice to my customer, or take the payment?
- No, and it never will. ForwardThis never moves money. Sending the document to your customer, recording a payment against it, moving money between bank accounts and writing journals are all left out on purpose. It drafts the paperwork and hands it back to you.
- Can it change an invoice I have already issued?
- No. It can edit the reference, the notes or the due date while a document is still a draft, and once Sage has posted it, it refuses rather than reaching into a live ledger entry. You'll get told that in plain words instead of a change that quietly happened.
- Can it answer questions about my books?
- Yes. Ask what's unpaid, what a customer owes, or for a quote, an estimate, a purchase invoice, a product or a ledger account, and it comes back in a reply. It can read one invoice in full, line by line, with its status and what's still outstanding. Reading changes nothing in your accounts.
