- How do I send an email to Paddle?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with the question on top, like "look this customer up and tell me their plan". It finds them by the address the email came from or by the name you give, and replies with what Paddle holds. The first time, you'll need a free account with Paddle connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the entire Paddle email integration.
- Can it raise an invoice or take a payment in Paddle?
- No, and there is a specific reason worth knowing. In other billing apps ForwardThis creates a draft and leaves it for you to issue. Paddle has no equivalent resting place: a transaction with everything filled in is one Paddle treats as ready to bill, so there is no way to prepare a document that is complete but unsent. Rather than get that wrong, it creates no transactions at all, and it never refunds, credits, cancels, pauses or charges anything either.
- Can it add or update a customer?
- Yes, and this is the only thing it writes. An email address is enough to create the customer record, with a name if you have one, and nothing is charged and no checkout is started. Changing an existing customer's email is where their invoices and receipts go next, so that one is shown to you for a yes first, and the confirmation carries an undo that works for 24 hours.
- What can it tell me about my billing?
- Transactions, subscriptions, products and prices, one at a time or as a list, narrowed to a customer or a date range. It will also total up what Paddle has actually billed between two dates. The figures are Paddle's own, not a sum of ours.
- How is this different from Paddle's own reports?
- Paddle's dashboard is better when you want to explore the numbers, and it is the only place to issue or refund anything. ForwardThis is for the moment a customer email lands and the answer is in Paddle: you forward it, ask, and the reply arrives in the same thread without you opening a tab. The same address handles your other apps too, so the reply and the follow-up task can happen together.
