Why you need ForwardThis

ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.
Questions
- How do I send an email to Google Analytics?
- Forward the email that asked the question to your ForwardThis address and add a line like "get last week's users and sessions for brightco.com". The figures come back to you as a reply, so you can pass them straight on. The first time, you'll need a free account with Google Analytics connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the whole Google Analytics email integration.
- Can it change anything in my Analytics?
- No. This connection only reads. It cannot edit a property, alter a report, add a user or touch your data in any way, which is also why there is nothing here to undo and nothing to approve.
- What can it actually tell me?
- Users, sessions and pageviews for a date range, covering the last 7 days unless your email asks for something else. Ask for top pages and you get the pages people looked at; ask where the traffic came from and you get the sources. Google Analytics works out every figure.
- What if I have more than one property?
- Name the one you mean in your instruction, like "for brightco.com". If it isn't clear which property you meant, it asks rather than guessing, and you can also ask it to list the properties your connected account can see.
- Is this better than Google's own scheduled reports?
- For the same numbers every Monday, no: set up a scheduled email in Google Analytics and it will do that perfectly well, for free. This is for the other kind, the question that turns up in your inbox from a colleague or a client and wants an answer in the next ten minutes, without you opening a dashboard and building the report by hand.
