Questions
- How do I send an email to Shopify?
- Forward the customer's email to your ForwardThis address with some simple instructions, like "create a draft order for Priya for 12 navy totes and tag her wholesale". ForwardThis shows you the draft before it makes it, then creates it and replies with a link. The first time, you'll need a free account with Shopify connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the whole Shopify email integration.
- Can it refund an order, take a payment or mark something as shipped?
- No, and that is deliberate. ForwardThis never moves money: it cannot charge a card, issue a refund, complete a draft order or email a customer a payment link. It also cannot mark anything as fulfilled, because shipping a physical thing has no undo. Those stay with you, in Shopify.
- Can it create an order from an email?
- It creates a draft order. A named product is matched from your own store, and anything that isn't in the store needs a title and a price in your instruction. The draft carries no charge and sits there until a person opens Shopify and completes it, which is also why undoing it is clean: Shopify deletes an open draft without a trace.
- Can it answer questions about orders, stock and customers?
- Yes, and reading changes nothing. Ask about an order by its number and you get the lines, the delivery address, whether it's paid, whether it's shipped and any tracking numbers. You can also search orders by customer, by status or by date, look up a customer, list the ten most recent orders, or ask for a sales report. Products come back with what's in stock.
- What if it tags or edits the wrong customer?
- Tags are read first and then changed, so it never quietly drops the ones already there, and undo works for 24 hours. Editing an open draft order asks you first and quotes the line before and after, because Shopify rewrites a draft's contents in one go. One honest limit: Shopify refuses to delete a customer who has orders, so if undo can't remove one, ForwardThis tells you that up front rather than half-finishing.
