  2. Forward an email

Why you need ForwardThis

Email is messy, every message asking for something different. It means constantly leaving your inbox and juggling tabs. ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.

Questions

How do I send an email to GetResponse?
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what should happen, like "add this person to the Newsletter list". ForwardThis adds the contact to that list in GetResponse and replies to confirm. The first time, you'll need a free account with GetResponse connected, which takes about 30 seconds.
Can I add a contact to a specific list?
Yes. Name the list in your instruction - "add her to the Customers list" - and the contact lands there. If your account has one list, ForwardThis uses it without being told. GetResponse calls a list a "campaign" in a few places, but you never need that word: the list's name is enough.
Can it tag contacts and fill in custom fields?
Yes. Say "tag him as a lead" or "set company to Brightco" in the same instruction. A tag that doesn't exist yet is created for you - GetResponse only allows letters, numbers and underscores in tag names, so "VIP lead" becomes "VIP_lead". Custom fields need to exist in GetResponse first.
Can it remove someone who asked to be taken off my list?
Yes. Forward their request and say "take them off the list". GetResponse has no way to restore a deleted contact, and that is why ForwardThis checks with you before removing anyone, then replies to confirm it's done.
Will it ever send anything to my list?
No. ForwardThis manages contacts one at a time: it adds them, updates them, tags them and looks them up. It cannot create or send newsletters, autoresponders or any other message to your list - sending stays in GetResponse, with you.
Do I have to set anything up first?
Connect GetResponse once - it takes about 30 seconds - and you're done. There are no rules to set up first: each email you forward says what should happen to it. It's the simplest kind of GetResponse email automation there is.

Forward an email. Sh*t gets done.
