- How do I send an email to Kit?
- Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what to do, like "add Hannah as a subscriber and tag her workshop-waitlist". ForwardThis reads the name and address out of the email, shows you the tag, and adds them once you say yes. The first time, you'll need a free account with Kit connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the whole Kit email integration.
- Can it send a broadcast or add someone to a sequence?
- No, on purpose. Putting a person into a sequence is sending them email, and a forwarded message is not the right authority for a campaign that goes out under your name. Broadcasts and sequences are not connected at all, so there is no version of this where an email sends one. Write and send those in Kit.
- Can it tag a subscriber?
- Yes, with tags that already exist in your account, found by name. A tag name it doesn't recognise is refused rather than quietly created, so a typo can't leave you with two nearly identical tags. Because a tag can trigger an automation in Kit, tagging always checks with you first.
- Can it remove or unsubscribe someone?
- No. Kit's only way of removing a person is to unsubscribe them, which is a record that they asked to stop hearing from you. That is a statement with legal weight and it shouldn't come out of a forwarded email, so it isn't offered, and it isn't what undo does either.
- Can it tell me how the list is doing?
- Yes. Ask for subscriber growth and you get new subscribers, cancellations and the net figure for a date range, covering the last 30 days unless your email says otherwise. Kit works out the numbers and the answer comes back as a reply.
