Setup in 30 seconds.

How it works

  1. Connect Shortcut

Create a free account and connect Shortcut. It takes about 30 seconds, and you only do it once.

  2. Forward an email

Forward any email to your ForwardThis address along with your instructions. One email can ask for several things at once.

  3. Done.

ForwardThis replies when it's done, with a short summary and links to what it made - and an undo button if something doesn't look right.

Just forward it

Why you need ForwardThis

Email is messy, every message asking for something different. It means constantly leaving your inbox and juggling tabs. ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.

Questions

How do I send an email to Shortcut?
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what it should become, like "raise this as a bug in Shortcut". The story is created with the title you gave it and the message as its description, and the reply comes back with a link to it. It can also find stories, move or rename one, and comment on it. The first time, you'll need a free account with Shortcut connected, which takes about 30 seconds - that's the entire Shortcut email integration.
Can I turn an email into a Shortcut story?
Yes, and it is what most people want this for. Say whether it is a feature, a bug or a chore and it is created as that type. New stories land in your default workflow's first unstarted column, the same place a story goes when you add one by hand, so nothing turns up somewhere the team is not looking.
Can it move a story to a different column?
Yes. Name the story and say where it should go, like "move the checkout story to In Progress". The column names are read from your real workflow before anything moves, so it cannot invent a state that does not exist on your board, and it tells you if the name you used does not match one.
What if it gets the story wrong?
The confirmation includes an undo that works for 24 hours. A story it created is deleted, a comment it left is removed, and a move or a rename goes back to what it was before. If somebody has moved the story again since, it leaves it alone rather than dragging it back under them.
How is this different from Shortcut's own integrations or Zapier?
Shortcut has no inbox of its own to forward things to. Zapier can create stories once you have built the rule, and it is the better choice when every message from one place should become a story. ForwardThis is for the email that turns up once, from a customer or a colleague, and needs to be a story before you forget about it.
