Why you need ForwardThis

Email is messy, every message asking for something different. It means constantly leaving your inbox and juggling tabs. ForwardThis skips all of that: forward an email along with some simple instructions, and it’s handled. Compatible with every email provider, and it works across the apps you’re already using.

Questions

How do I send an email to WordPress?
Forward the email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what the post should be called, like "draft a post called We're opening in Harrogate". It writes the draft from the email on the WordPress.com site you connected and replies with a link to it. The first time, you'll need a free account with WordPress.com connected, which takes about 30 seconds, and that's the entire WordPress email integration.
Does it publish straight to my site?
Not unless you say so. Everything arrives as a draft you can open and edit. Publishing is a separate instruction, and it checks with you first and names the site it's about to appear on, because a live page is a public thing.
Can it edit a post I already have?
Yes. Name the post and it can change the title, change the content, or switch it between draft and published. If you undo within 24 hours it puts the previous title, content and status back, and it refuses if the post has been edited again since, so it can never overwrite someone else's work.
Does this work with self-hosted WordPress?
No. This connects to WordPress.com sites. Self-hosted WordPress speaks to a different set of endpoints, so it would need its own connection rather than this one, and it isn't available yet.
How is this different from WordPress's own Post by Email?
Post by Email takes whatever you send to a secret address and turns the whole thing into a post, headers, signature and all, on one site with a fixed setting for whether it publishes. ForwardThis reads the line you write, so you decide the title, whether it stays a draft, and what happens next, and the same address handles the rest of your apps too.
