- How do I send an email to Karbon?
- Forward the client's email to your ForwardThis address with a line saying what needs to happen, like "create a work item for Lloyd Fabrication's Q2 VAT return, due 7 September". ForwardThis shows you the client, title and dates, creates it once you say yes, and replies to confirm. The first time, you'll need a free account with Karbon connected, which takes about 30 seconds.
- Can it create a work item straight from a client's email?
- Yes. It matches the client by name against your Karbon contacts and organisations, sets the assignee from the email address you name, defaults the start date to today and takes a due date if you give one. It can add the timeline note in the same email.
- Can I undo something it did in Karbon?
- Changes to a work item, so its title, description, due date, assignee or status, undo for 24 hours and restore exactly what was there before, refused if somebody has moved the work on since. Karbon has no way to delete a work item, contact or note, so those are shown to you for a yes before they happen instead.
- Can it look up a client for me?
- Yes. Ask by name or email and it searches both people and businesses, so "who do we have for Lloyd Fabrication?" comes back whether the client is filed as a person or an organisation. It can also list work items by client or by status, newest first.
- Will it raise an invoice or record a payment?
- No. Invoices, payments and timesheets are all left alone, and so are user and team permissions. A forwarded email is not authority to put money against a client's ledger, so ForwardThis stays on work items, contacts and notes.
