- How do I send an email to Lever?

- Can I add a candidate to Lever from an email?
- Yes. Forward the application email and say "add them to Lever". The candidate record is created with the name, email and phone number from the message, and if a CV is attached, Lever reads it and fills in the rest of the profile. Because adding a candidate can't be reversed in Lever, ForwardThis checks with you first.
- What happens if the candidate is already in Lever?
- Lever matches on the email address, so forwarding the same person twice doesn't create a duplicate. Their new application is linked to the existing profile, and everything already on record stays as it was.
- Do I have to set anything up first?
- Connect Lever once, which takes about 30 seconds, and you're done. There's nothing else to set up: each email you forward says what should happen to it.
- Can it move candidates between stages or reject them?
- No, and that's deliberate. Advancing or rejecting someone is a hiring decision, and those stay with people. ForwardThis handles the clerical side in Lever: creating the candidate record, adding notes, changing tags and looking things up.
- What if something goes in wrong?
- Adding a candidate always gets a quick OK from you first, because Lever has no way to remove a candidate record once it exists. Notes and tag changes can be undone from the confirmation email for 24 hours.
- How is this different from Lever's own email sync?
- Lever's email sync links your existing recruiting conversations to profiles automatically, and if that's all you need, it's the better choice. ForwardThis does a different job: it turns any email into work done in Lever, so an application forwarded from a shared inbox becomes a candidate record with the CV attached, a note and the right tags, without you opening Lever at all.
